Description:
Propanediol (aka. PDO) is a chemical derived from corn sugar or petroleum. It is a clear or slightly yellow and is almost odorless.
Propanediol is used as a moisturizer. It also helps skin absorb a products ingredients. PDO dilutes other active ingredients and decreases viscosity. It is a solvent, humectant, and emollient. PDO is a preservative booster in skincare products.
It gives a product a light texture and a non-sticky feel.
Propanediol (PDO) is sometimes labeled as Propylene Glycol (PG) on cosmetic labels despite it being compositionally different. Propanediol (PDO) is considered safer and less irritating than Propylene Glycol (PG).
